Rick’s Kettle Corn has been in business for approximately one year. During this past year we have sold kettle corn regularly at four farmers markets, two street dances, two fall festivals and various events through out the summer and fall. Usually the corn is popped at the event, but when conditions do not permit we do pre-pop the corn. Customers boast we have the best ever kettle corn!

Founded in 1937, the city was named Oconomowoc (o-con-o-mo-wok), which refers to a term used by Potawatomi Indians that means “where the waters meet or river of lakes”. The city is blessed with breathtaking natural beauty and old Victorian homes along shade filled streets.

This Year’s FEATURED Program:

Every year Operation Celebrate Freedom chooses a cause to dedicate its major efforts to. In the past we were simply excited to help in any way possible. Since we have been successful beyond our expectations we are raising the bar this year.We have a great respect for all of the men and women and the families of those in the armed forces. We encourage all to show their respect and support the best way they can. Since our effort is one of a localized effort to secure funding for our brothers and sisters in southeastern Wisconsin, we have decided to help by donating 75% of all money raised to Fisher House Wisconsin.

Need for Fisher House Project

A Fisher House is a “home away from home” for military and veterans’ families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Currently, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans from 23 different states are traveling to the Milwaukee VA medical center for treatment of their wounds and injuries. Veterans and their families living beyond 50-miles from the Milwaukee VA hospital are eligible to stay for free at the Fisher House if they need to overnight.

The Fisher House program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and ensures that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment.

Due to this need, the future Milwaukee home will be one of the largest built in the United States of America.

How We Will Measure Success

Success is measured by completion and subsequent occupancy rates. We currently have a near 100% occupancy rate at our 54 houses. The average house serves approximately 1,000 families per year.

Ratings

Fisher House Foundation is a well established not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we are nationally recognized as a premier non-profit with a four star Charity Navigator rating and an A+ from the American Institute of Philanthropy; of the 41 military/veterans charities rated in the May 2011 report, only four received an A+.

Funding Summary

Proposed budget is $6,000,000, most of which is currently funded by the Fisher House Foundation although we request that the local community fund half the project cost.
